Today, the National Geographic Society announced its 2020 National Geographic Award recipients. The nine individuals will be honored during the virtual 2020 National Geographic Awards on Thursday, October 8.
National Geographic Contributing Writer David Quamenn received the 2019 Eliza Scidmore award for his impactful work on the relationship between humanity and the natural world.
Current Seychelles President Danny Faure and former Seychelles President James Michel were awarded the 2019 Planetary Leaders award for their commitment to establishing globally protected areas.
Since 2015, the Okavango Wilderness Project Team has explored, mapped and studied the Okavango Delta. In June 2019, they were presented with the Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year Award for their extensive studies in the region.
