The BioBlitz at Biscayne National Park “is in my backyard this year” says University of Miami environmental anthropologist and National Geographic Emerging Explorer Kenny Broad. He spent the day taking BioBlitz field teams and photographers across and around the bay in his boat.
Here, he speaks with National Geographic News editor David Braun, reflects on the threats from near and far to Biscayne’s ecosystems and how people perceive those threats, and discusses the spiritual significance of the ocean.
